Step-by-Step Cooking Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Beef

Remove beef and set aside. In the same pot, sauté chopped onions until deep golden – about 10 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Return beef to the pot. Cook for 3.5 to 4 hours until beef is fork-tender and falling apart.

Step 4: Shred the Beef
Carefully remove beef from the pot. When cool enough to handle, shred the meat using two forks, discarding excess fat and bones. Set shredded beef aside.

Step 5: Prepare the Broth for Rice
Strain the cooking liquid through a fine-mesh sieve. Skim off excess fat. You should have about 4 cups of rich, dark broth. If less, add water to reach 4 cups.

Fold the shredded beef into the rice gently. Add half the toasted pine nuts and almonds. Mix well but carefully to avoid breaking the rice grains.
